Durango BOtanic Gardens
Building Public Gardens Committed to Inspiration, Demonstration and Education
Giving Tuesday is technically celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. However, it's just a reminder to support your favorite non-profits--you can even start right now and we hope we will be part of your #GivingTuesday plans! #GivingTuesday has evolved into a global movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities, their world through giving. Now, more than ever, is when non-profits across the nation need support.
The mission of the Durango Botanic Gardens is to build public gardens that beautify, educate, and enhance livability in our community. The Durango Botanic Gardens is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. All of our workers and staff are volunteers and our gardens are built with donations. On Donation Options below, choose #GivingTuesday. Thank you!
Other Donation Options that Also Leave a Legacy
Our Newest Garden Project--The Literary Garden--Envisions a Marriage of Gardens and Literature
We are currently raising funds for a new garden, one that recognizes the importance of our partnership with the Durango Public Library. The Literary Garden will be designed and built around themes found in many of our favorite books, poems, and other works of literature. We are asking library staff for input on authors who have made gardens and nature central to their writing. This information will guide us in plant and tree selection, art, and other features of the garden. The new garden will also incorporate innovative ideas in water conservation and retention. At the right, is a conceptual plan for the garden. We will continue to revise this plan as ideas are proposed and discussed. The new garden will be to the north and west of the library entrance.
If you would like to donate to help us build this garden, see the "Campaign" button in the donation form and choose Literary Garden.
Add Your Name to Our Bookcase Stone "Library"
Another way to marry our library and our hardscaping is with
these bookcase stones that rest securely on steel shelves. Benefactors may enscribe their names, their organization's name, or the names of loved ones on these truly long-lasting "book" spines. Celebrate your love of books and gardens at the same time. A bookcase stone donation is available at $300 per stone, including enscription.
Garden Path Engraved Flagstones
Generously sized flagstones, with your name, your business, or a quotation that inspires can be enscribed on these large stones that provide a path through the Demonstration Garden. Garden path flagstones stones are a wonderful opportunity to leave a truly lasting legacy or memorial. Price for an enscribed flagstone is $1500. You choose what goes on the stone.
Help Grow the Arboreta Gardens: Sponsor Trees, Shrubs, and Art Panels
We are developing gardens on the north side of the Library called The Arboreta. There remain many opportunities to support this major garden-building effort by purchasing a tree or other plantings. A sign will acknowledge your gift. Please contact us at 970-880-4841 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for pricing and availability of trees.
If your interests lean more toward art you can also purchase one of our beautiful decorative metal panels. Our metalsmith will produce an image on the panel from your design or we can put you in touch with an artist who has designed several of these panels already. Decorative metal panels, seen pictured below at left, with your name attributed, will cost approximately $2500.
