Meet Susan Tweit

  Plant  Ecologist and Award-Winning Author

“A garden is a community. No matter the landscaping style, plants used, or location, as soon as we put plants in the ground, they form relationships. They behave in response to the environment and the other species around them.” “Plants are actually complex beings. They have senses….Did you know plants can see you?”

Susan will talk about plants and her relationship with nature and how she became a Habitat Hero. Anyone can turn a weed patch into a beautiful native plant retreat. Are you concerned about water usage and what plants will work well for you? Have you passed a commercial or industrial area and wondered why no one is cleaning up the area? Maybe you have seen a neighborhood green belt that could use some sprucing up. Learn how easy it is to make the changes in your community.

DBS took an unsightly weed patch and turned it into an educational garden retreat. Let’s do more projects like this. Learn from Susan how to make it happen. Learn how and why plants form relationships with their surroundings. Learn what plants work for our difficult climate. Susan will be signing her books and taking questions after her presentation. Desserts and refreshments are served after the presentation.

On day 2 Susan will inspire you all with her Nature journal class, As a writing coach she will share her secrets to success. A true nature blogger visit her web site to see why so many people follow her online.  Visit Susan’s blog
